A Small Village in West Java

Adi Minggu, 01 Juni 2014

This photo tells the story about children in Garut. In the photos it looks that a little boy was able to encourage a lot of people contain getek which is certainly of size and age they are more mature. This in my opinion is unique and amazing, seeing the little boy who at first glance is not capable of pushing getek but it turns out they can do so. Here is where I pick up one of the lessons about life, "if we believe in ourselves, any severe hurdles must be passed".

This photo was taken when I went with my friend to Garut. At the Village on Cangkuang on March 7, 2014. Life in this village is very unique, because there are only 6 houses and 1 mosque which means there are only 6 families in this village. And in the village, only a woman can live alone. In this village was not allowed to keep four-legged animals, it is because farm animals such as cows, in addition to damaging rice fields and defacing of ancient tombs, also because the cow is the vehicle of Deity Siwa.

In this village there are also the only existing Temple in West Java, namely on Cangkuang Temple. The temple was discovered by the research team Harsoyo and Tjandrasasmita Uka in 1966. According to the history of this temple are the remains of the 8th century. Whereas according to local people, were proselytizers named Embah Dalem Arif Muhammad, he comes from the Mataram Kingdom. He came with his companions to attack the VOC Batavia and spread the religion of Islam, one of which is a village on Cangkuang then population has embraced Hinduism. Therefore in this village there are temples, although the population has embraced Islam on Cangkuang, they still perform most of the Hindu religious teachings.

A lot of stories that are still preserved in this village, that story is tucked away along with beautiful scenery on Cangkuang. For that we as the next generation in this nation, an awful lot of this country's cultural diversity that we have to take care and we care. Not only on Cangkuang Village, but all the diversity of the country. If it wasn't we who care who else???
